Antonoplos Scores Four in CCS Regular Season Finale

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team closed out its Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) regular season schedule in emphatic fashion on Friday afternoon, recording a commanding 9-0 victory over Agnes Scott at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

The win improved the Blazers to 11-4-3 overall and 6-1-1 in CCS play, securing a strong finish to conference action heading into next week's non-conference regular season finale.

Belhaven wasted no time seizing control, erupting for six goals in the opening 25 minutes to build an insurmountable lead. Senior midfielder Emma Antonoplos led the offensive outburst with a career-high four goals, including two in the first nine minutes, and a successful penalty kick early in the second half. Antonoplos' became the third player in school history to score four goals in a match and the first since Jessica Mahoney did so vs. Louisiana College on Aug. 29, 2014.

The Blazers' early barrage featured a balanced attack, as Alyssa Wilson, Mia Kate Cade, and Ashlyn Desoto each added a goal, while Lauren Snell tallied two assists in the first half. Micah Benson, Faith Dreyer, and Mary McCardle also contributed helpers as Belhaven connected crisp passing with relentless offensive pressure.

Belhaven dominated every statistical category, out-shooting Agnes Scott 29-0 and holding a 15-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Blazer defense was nearly flawless, not allowing a single shot on goal, as four goalkeepers - Addi Roberts, Ella Field, Jacie Joyce, and Sidney Roest combined for the shutout.

The scoring continued in the second half with Antonoplos' penalty kick in the 49th minute, followed by Desoto's strike in the 57th minute and a late team goal in the 60th to cap the scoring.

The victory marked Belhaven's seventh shutout in their last ten matches and its highest single-game goal total of the season.

The Blazers will wrap up the regular season at home next Tuesday, Oct. 28, when they host Hendrix College at Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 PM.
