Belhaven Wins 3-0 Over Hendrix in Regular Season Finale

JACKSON - The Belhaven women's soccer team closed out its regular season in dominant fashion Tuesday evening, earning a 3-0 shutout victory over Hendrix at Belhaven Bowl Stadium. The win marked the Blazers' second consecutive victory and continues their momentum as attention now turns to the CCS Tournament which begins this weekend.

Senior Lauren Snell put Belhaven on the board in the 43rd minute, connecting from close range off a cross from Lillian Harvey to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead heading into the break. The assist marked Harvey's first of two on the night, as the senior defensive back pushed forward to help spark the Blazers' balanced offensive attack.

Belhaven continued to press in the second half, breaking the game open with two goals in a four-minute span. In the 76th minute, Faith Gonzales scored her second goal of the season off a feed from Kinsey Carter, who created space down the right sideline before setting up the finish. Moments later, Harvey delivered her second assist of the match, finding Ashlyn Desoto in the box to extend the lead to 3-0 in the 80th minute.

The Blazer defense was rock solid once again, anchored by Addi Roberts, who earned her third clean sheet of the season. Reagan Nichols, Jennifer Neal, and Alyssa Wilson led a back line that limited Hendrix scoreless

Harvey finished with two assists and a shot, while Snell, Desoto, and Gonzales each found the back of the net in a well-rounded team performance. Carter also contributed an assist and two shots on goal, as Belhaven controlled possession throughout with a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

With the win, Belhaven closes the regular season with 12 victories, the third consecutive season with at least 12 wins.

The Blazers will return to action in the CCS Semifinals on Saturday, November 4, when they face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 Piedmont and No. 6 LaGrange.
