Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025: Levi Patton

JACKSON - Belhaven University proudly announced the 2025 Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Class on April 9th featuring five inductees. The inductees will be profiled with a look at how they impacted Belhaven Athletics and left their mark as Blazers. This year's honorees will be inducted into the Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 25th as part of this year's Homecoming festivities.

2025 Hall of Fame Inductee: Levi Patton (Belhaven University, 2002-04; Head Tennis Coach 2008-16)

An Alabama native, Levi Patton arrived at Belhaven as a student-athlete after competing at Gadsden State Community College from 2000-02. He joined the Blazers' men's tennis program in 2002 and also contributed to the cross-country team in 2003-04, embodying the spirit of the student-athlete across multiple disciplines.   Patton graduated from Belhaven in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and earned a master's degree in Business Management in 2006.

In 2008, Patton returned to his alma mater to assume the head coach role for the Blazers' men's and women's tennis programs. Over his nine-season tenure (2008-16), he compiled a remarkable combined record-crossing the 200-win milestone in April 2016 and helped elevate both programs to national prominence, including top-25 rankings and a historic men's trip to the NAIA National Tournament Round of 16 in 2012. Under his leadership the men's team achieved a No. 8 ranking, the highest the program had reached in over two decades, while the women's program entered the national rankings for the first time in school history.

Beyond wins and rankings, Patton's impact at Belhaven extended into mentoring, program building, and academic support-shaping a tennis culture rooted in faith, character and competitive excellence. His professional credentials include USPTA certification as a Teaching Professional (P1) and USTA umpire/referee certification, reflecting his broad influence across the tennis community.

Levi Patton's legacy at Belhaven is one of transformation-both as a multi-sport student-athlete and as a coach who took the Blazers tennis programs to new heights. On behalf of Belhaven Athletics, it is with deep pride that we induct him into the Hall of Fame, honoring his stellar performance, leadership and enduring contribution to the Blazer family.
