Top Moments of 2025: Women's Soccer Wins First CCS Championship

JACKSON, Miss. - As 2025 draws to a close, Belhaven Athletics is proud to recount some of the many moments displayed by Blazers student-athletes and teams that made this calendar year one to remember. Over the remainder of the year, multiple moments will be recounted, featuring each of Belhaven's athletics programs.

TOP MOMENTS OF 2025: WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS FIRST CCS CHAMPIONSHIP

The Belhaven Women's Soccer team secured the first Collegiate Conference of the South championship in program history this fall as they knocked off Asbury 2-1 in the CCS Tournament Final. The win marks the Blazers' first conference championship as a member of the NCAA and first overall conference championship since 2004.

The Blazers had the better of the chances throughout the first half and after forcing the Asbury goalkeeper into early saves, finally found the breakthrough in the 27th minute. Emma Antonoplos, who was named the CCS Tournament MVP, was fouled in the box and earned a penalty that Lauren Snell was able to bury into the bottom right corner.

Antonoplos, who was an attacking force throughout the match, would double the Blazers' lead in the 37th minute as she was able to chip a tight-angle shot over the goalkeeper's head and inside the far post.

Belhaven would have chances to extend their lead in the second half but it was Asbury who found the next goal as the Eagles were able to find the back of the net in the 87th minute after a rebound from a double-save by Addi Roberts.

The Blazers comfortably saw out the final minutes though to earn their first piece of hardware at the Division III level. With the win, Belhaven also secured an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament with their destination and opponent set to be announced Monday during the NCAA selection show.

Joining Emma Antonoplos on the All-Tournament team was Lauren Snell, who scored the Blazers' first goal of the match, and Kinsey Carter, who scored the winner in the Belhaven's 1-0 win over Piedmont in the semifinal.
