BELTON, Texas - The Belhaven Golf team wrapped up the opening day at the UMHB Invitational on Monday with Gannon Williams leading the way for the Blazers through the first round.

Williams sits 11th among individuals after the first 18 holes of the tournament, turning in an opening round 72 (+2) which has him just two shots off the top five leaderboard. Williams recorded a strong opening round boosted by four birdies en route to his strong start in Texas.

Senior Ashton Anderson sits 28th among individuals after the opening round after carding a 76 (+4) to start things off in Texas. Anderson also recorded four birdies through the first 18 holes as he looks to help lead the Blazers across the two-day event. 

Andrew Scherer sits just one shot off of Anderson with an opening round 77 (+5) and rounds out the top trio for the Blazers at the event so far.

The Blazers will open up the final round of the UMHB Invitational on Tuesday at 9:00 AM.
