ROME, Ga. – A trio of Belhaven Football players were named among the USA South Athletic Conference's Athletes of the Week on Monday. Kolbe Blunt, Carlton Brown and Chavarius Garrett all earned honors after their performances in Belhaven's 29-3 win over Huntingdon this past Saturday.
 
Kolbe Blunt was named the USA South Offensive Player of the Week for a second straight week after he posted a career-day on the ground in the Blazers' critical victory over the Hawks. Blunt carried the ball 16 times for a career-high 225 yards rushing while also adding a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Mobile, Alabama native is now up to 690 yards on the ground across the Blazers' first five games with eight touchdowns and a stunning 10.0 yards per carry.
 
Carlton Brown earned his second USA South Defensive Player of the Week nod after he led a Blazers' defense that limited the Huntingdon offense to just one field goal across four quarters. Brown had a team high seven tackles including five solo efforts to go along with 1.5 tackles for loss. Brown's big influence came late in the game when he recorded a sack and forced a fumble that Belhaven recovered eventually leading to a score which solidified the Blazers' win.
 
Chavarius Garrett was named the USA South Defensive Rookie of the Week for the second time this season as he continues to make an impact in his freshman campaign. Garrett recorded a pair of tackle assists and a half tackle for loss in the game but his biggest impact came when he recovered the fumble forced by Carlton Brown and helped secure the conference win for the Blazers.
 
Belhaven now sits 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference play having defeated the reigning conference champions, Huntingdon, for the first time in program history. Blunt, Brown, Garrett and the Blazers return to action this weekend as they travel to Georgia to face LaGrange as USA South play rolls on. Kickoff against the Panthers is set for 12:00 PM CT.
