JACKSON, Miss. – Shantashia John of the Belhaven Women's Basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Tuesday following her performances on the court this week against Mississippi University for Women and Maryville College. John won her third CCS Player of the Week and eighth Rookie of the Week honor this season. 

While playing in only 18 minutes in the 68-40 win over MUW, she scored a team-high 16 points, went 50 percent from the field, and totaled two steals on Wednesday evening.

In the 73-68 CCS win over Maryville, John played all 40 minutes, scored 31 points, went 10-for-17 from the field, and shot 60 percent from beyond the arc.

On the season, Shantashia has played in all 18 games for the Blazers and averaged 31.4 MPG. She is shooting 51.3 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from three-point range, 83.5 percent from the charity stripe, and averages 21.4 PPG.

Shantashia and rest of the Blazers will return to action on February 1^st against the Mississippi University for Women Owls inside Rugg Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
