ATLANTA, GA. - Following a perfect 3-0 week in conference play, Belhaven senior forward
Katelyn Coleman has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It marks Coleman's second career CCS Player of the Week honor.
Coleman played a pivotal role in helping the Blazers secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCS Tournament, continuing the strong finish to the regular season that included a dominant Senior Day victory and a key home win over Huntingdon.
The Mound Bayou, Mississippi native logged 74 minutes across three games and delivered one of her most complete performances of the season in Belhaven's 73-44 win over Huntingdon. Coleman recorded a 24-point, 14-rebound double-double against the Hawks.
For the week, Coleman totaled 43 points on 19-of-35 shooting from the field, averaging efficient production inside and in transition. She also contributed across the stat sheet with 20 rebounds, seven assists, six steals, and four blocks. Her activity helped Belhaven force turnovers and convert them into points, a trend that has defined the Blazers' late-season surge.
Coleman's consistency down the stretch has been a major factor in Belhaven's 18-6 overall record and 11-5 mark in CCS play heading into postseason action. With the No. 2 seed secured, the Blazers now turn their attention to the CCS Tournament as they look to build on the momentum generated by their three-game win streak to end the regular season.Â
The Blazers will play the winner of Asbury and Piedmont on Friday, Feb. 27
