JACKSON, Miss. -
Brett Sanchez of the Belhaven Baseball team was named to the D3baseball.com All-America Second Team on Wednesday as a starting pitcher.
Sanchez, fresh off the heels of being named an All-Region X First Team member by the same publication on Tuesday, pulls in his first postseason All-American recognition as he continues to build an outstanding career resumé with the Blazers.
The right-hander was stellar once again in 2022 as he helped lead the Blazers to a third place finish in the American Southwest Conference regular season standings and a trip to the semi-finals of the overall conference tournament.Â
A starter for the Belhaven pitching staff, Sanchez finished the year with an 8-1 record across 11 starts and a stellar 2.01 ERA. The Slidell native posted a WHIP of just 0.91 and racked up 84 strikeouts in 85.0 innings pitched while limiting opponents to just a .211 batting average.
The list of postseason recognitions continue to pile up for Sanchez who, along with being named to the All-Region X First Team by D3baseball.com, also earned a spot on the ABCA All-Region X First Team.
Sanchez was also named to the All-ASC First Team last month and was recognized as a finalist for Mississippi's prestigious Boo Ferriss Trophy given to the top four-year, collegiate baseball player in the state.Â
