Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas - The Belhaven Baseball team rolled past bracket host UT Dallas on Saturday with a 7-1 victory that clinches the Blazers a spot in the Red Bracket Final on Sunday.
The Blazers' bats started the game hot with two runs scored in the bottom of the 1st after
Dawson Albin delivered a first pitch double down the left field line driving in a pair with both
Nick Lucido and
Nathan Herron scoring.
Belhaven then added a pair of runs to their lead in the 2nd inning when
Nick Lucido came through with an RBI base hit while the bases were loaded scoring two and putting the Blazers in front 4-0.
With a multi-run lead in support, Belhaven starting pitcher
Brett Sanchez was lights out on the mound for the Blazers holding the Comets hitless into the 5th inning and scoreless into the 9th. Belhaven continued to add run support with two more runs coming in the 6th inning when
Caleb Whittle homered on a 1-2 pitch to score two runs and make it a 6-0 Blazers' lead.
In the top of the 8th Belhaven picked up their 7th and final run when
Nathan Herron doubled in
Kyle McLaughlin helping to ensure the Blazers' win.

With the win the Blazers secure their spot in the Red Bracket Final and are one win away from competing the Gold Bracket series next weekend against the winner of the ASC Blue Bracket. Belhaven will face UT Dallas with the Blazers needing one win and the Comets need two after coming out of the loser's bracket. First pitch against UT Dallas is set for 11 AM.
