JACKSON, Miss. -
Brett Sanchez and
Nick Lucido of the Belhaven Baseball program were both named to D3baseball.com All-Region X teams on Tuesday following stellar seasons as a part of a Blazers team that finished third in the American Southwest Conference.
Brett Sanchez, fresh off being named a finalist for Mississippi's prestigious Boo Ferriss Trophy, was named to the All-Region X First Team as a starting pitcher by D3baseball.com. This marks the second time that Sanchez has earned an All-Region First Team honor by the publication after being named to the All-West Region First Team last season. The right-hander led the Blazers' pitching staff this season with an 8-1 record across 11 starts and a stellar 2.01 ERA. The Slidell native posted a WHIP of just 0.91 and racked up 84 strikeouts in 85.0 innings pitched while limiting opponents to just a .211 batting average. Sanchez was also named to the All-ASC First Team earlier this month as he continues to pile up an impressive stack of career honors.
Nick Lucido joined
Brett Sanchez in being recognized by D3baseball.com being named to the All-Region X Third Team as a second baseman. Lucido was among the leading hitters in the Blazers lineup this season and finished the year with a .364 average and a .998 OPS across 27 starts. The Mandeville native picked up 11 doubles and a pair of home runs across 36 hits while driving in 29 runs and scoring 28 runs on the year. Lucido, who has a career average over .300, earned his first All-Region recognition after being named to the All-ASC Second Team as an infielder earlier this month.Â
