ROME, Ga. – Belhaven senior linebacker
Connor Fordham was named the USA South Defensive Player of the Year following his performance on the gridiron this season.
For his efforts on the field, the Wedowee, Ala. native collected USA South Defensive Player of the Week honors twice, USA South Special Teams Player of the Week honors once, and was named to the d3football.com Team of the week once this season.
Fordham led the Green and Gold with 95 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 6.0 sacks during the 2022 season.
Over the course of his career, he tallied 259 Total Tackles (5
th All-Time), 35.5 Tackles for Loss (5
th All-time), and 16 sacks (5
th All-Time). Additionally, the senior finished his career with two interceptions, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and four blocked kicks.
Fordham is Belhaven's nominee for the Conerly Trophy, which is an award given annually to the best college football player in the state of Mississippi by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.

Fordham helped the Green and Gold to an 8-2 overall record and a second place finish in the USA South.
