JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University track and field teams competed in day two of the American Southwest Conference Track and Field Championships, hosted by Belhaven University. 

On the women's side, Five Blazers competed in the 100m prelims with Frances Knight being the only one to qualify for the finals tomorrow. In the 200m prelims, the Blazers had six athletes compete and Ashaunti Barnes qualified for the finals with a time of 26.43. Ashaunti Barnes, Maurissa Winford, and Ellie Brooker ran the 400m prelims with Barnes and Winford qualifying for the finals tomorrow. Francie LeDuff was the lone Blazer to cross the line in the 800m prelims with a time of 2:46.07. 

In the field events, Desire Tackett and Neely Brunt threw the Shot put and finished with a throw of 28.38m and 25.16m respectively.  

On the men's side, Keandre Fultz and Charles Wilson ran the 100m and Fultz had a fast enough time to qualify him to the finals tomorrow. Kemp was the only Blazer to run the 110 and 400 Hurdles Prelims as he finished in first in the 110 and second in the 400 Hurdles to move to the finals. Theodore McCarty crossed the finish line with a time of 2:12.43 in the 800. Charles walker rounded out the scoring events with a time of 11:42 in the 3000 steeplechase. 

In the field events, Christian Venzen and Keandre Fultz competed in the Long Jump and finished with a 6.58 and 6:01 mark respectively. There were six athletes that competed in the Shot Put for the Blazers In day two of the ASC Championships. Hunter Williams led the way for the Green and Gold with a throw of 13.49m, good enough for a third-place finish.  

The Blazers will return to action on May 1 to compete in the final day of the ASC Championships on the campus of Belhaven University beginning at 9am.
