MOUNT BERRY, Georgia - The Belhaven University baseball team fell to the Berry College Vikings in the first game of a three game series on Friday afternoon by a final score of 6-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Berry College opened up the contest, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning off of a single from Casey Whitaker that scored the Vikings' Zack Walch to put Berry ahead 1-0.

- Belhaven answered three innings later in the top of the fourth inning with a single up the middle from Josh Rogers that scored Hunter White and Justin Milam, giving the Blazers a 2-1 lead. 

- Moments later, Gasper D'Anna singled to left field, scoring Trip Benson to extend the Green and Gold lead to 3-1.

- Berry earned a run back in the bottom half of the fourth inning, yet in the top of the fifth inning, Belhaven once again erased the Vikings run with an RBI single from Trip Benson to center field, scoring Justin Milam. Belhaven led 4-2.

- The Vikings never went away, getting two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game up at 4-4. 

- The Blazers broke a tie in the top of the sixth, scoring Evan Moore on an RBI single to center field from Tucker Calhoun.

- Berry College scored in each of the seventh and eighth innings to regain the lead 6-5 while shutting down the Blazers offense for the remainder of the game to pick up the 6-5 victory in game one of the three-game series.
