JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven outfielder
Stephen Sexton was selected to the
D3Baseball.Com Team of the Week following his performance at the plate during the week of Feb. 20-26.
The Ponotoc, Miss. native totaled six hits in the series victory against Hardin-Simmons, recorded a double in each of the three games, a home run and brought home six runs.
In the series finale with the Cowboys, the senior went 3-for-4 with the aforementioned three-run bomb, four RBIs and scored three times.
On the week, Sexton had a batting average of .461 (6-for-13), a slugging percentage of .923 and an on-base percentage of .500.
This is the second honor in Belhaven's NCAA Division III era, joining
Tanner Moulder who was named to the Team last April.
Along with UT Tyler's Trenton Buchhorn and UT Dallas' Ruben Renteria, these are the first selections from the American Southwest Conference (ASC) in 2017.
