Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven baseball team improved to 18-4 on the season and 5-2 in the Southern States Athletic Conference on Friday night after defeating Blue Mountain College by a final of 6-0. The Toppers dropped to 2-12 overall, including a 1-9 mark in league play.

"Boomer gave us a great start on the mound, and we were great offensively in the early part of the game," Head Coach
Hill Denson said. "Every conference win is big, so this was a good one for us."
Tyler Akins,
Dominick Francia, and
Brayden Dykes each posted a multi-hit ballgame, and
Emilio DeSilva extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Paul Pickerrell,
Hunter Sutton, and
Josiah Richard each added a base hit to boost the Blazer offense.
Boomer Scarborough picked up his third victory of the year on the mound after allowing six hits and striking out seven Toppers. The performance was the first complete game shutout of 2014 for Belhaven.
"When he has good breaking stuff, he is tough, and tonight, he was on," Denson said. "They scattered some hits throughout the game, but Boomer was great."
Trae Allison and Vinny DeMelo combined for four of the six Blue Mountain hits, while Brandon Berry fell in his first start of the year. The right hander allowed four runs on six hits through 3.1 innings.
Belhaven and Blue Mountain will take the field for a Saturday doubleheader from Smith Wills Stadium. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm.
"This team swings the bats well and gets better every game," Denson said. "Hopefully, we can come out and do the same thing tomorrow."
