Box Score Game 1    Box Score Game 2
ALEXANDRIA, La.-The Belhaven baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader Monday night at LSU-Alexandria losing game one 2-1 while coming back with a 7-4 victory in the second game. The Blazers, ranked 15th in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, go to 5-1 on the season.

Game One
Belhaven was limited to three hits in the first game with Anthony Doss picking up the only RBI in the first inning. Chad Wardlaw walked to begin the frame and stole second base to get into scoring position. Doss then drove in the only Blazer run of the game on a single to left field.

Belhaven starter Allen Johnson worked in and out of trouble in the first four innings, but LSU-Alexandria took advantage of a Blazer error in the fifth and added two hits to take the 2-1 lead. Tid Hilger had what proved to be the game winning hit for LSUA with a two run double that chased home Derek Goyne and Kenny Hudson.

Belhaven's bats were silenced the rest of the way by Generals starting pitcher Jake Bell who went the distance allowing only one run on three hits. He walked three and struck out six. Johnson suffered the loss for Belhaven dropping his record to 1-1. Johnson surrendered both runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Only one of the runs charged to Johnson was earned due to the error.

Game Two
In game two, Belhaven set the tone in the first inning scoring six runs, which ended up being enough for the win. The Blazers sent 11 men to the plate en route to the six spot. Ryan Saunders brought in the first run on a base rip to right field with Tyler Wrinkle crossing the plate. Bud Britt then crushed an RBI double to left field followed by a Jason Cook RBI infield single. Hamilton Harper was the next hitter to reach base on an error by Tid Hilger, but was credited with an RBI as Britt scored. The play also saw Cook cross the plate to make it a 5-0 game. Jamie Bruno then capped the inning with his fifth double of the season, scoring Harper from second base.

Belhaven tacked on its seventh run in the second inning when Doss slammed a leadoff double to right field. Saunders moved him to third on a ground ball to first base and Britt lifted a sacrifice fly to center field for the RBI.

LSU-Alexandria (2-2) plated single runs in the first and second innings to stay within striking distance. The Generals took advantage of a Belhaven error in the first and Trey Barnes added the RBI to his season total on a groundout to shortstop. In the second, LSUA scored on an error by catcher Tom Wertz when he threw wide of first trying to complete a strikeout on a ball in the dirt. The Generals final two runs were put on the board in the fifth on base hit by Rick Divito and a dropped fly ball by Doss in left field. Belhaven's bullpen picked up the defense and closed the door on the Generals in the sixth and seventh innings to preserve the win.

Tyler Wrinkle and Doss led the way with two hits each and Bud Britt had a hit and two runs batted in. Harper, Bruno, and Saunders each had one RBI along with Cook who had a hit and one run driven in. The Blazers had eight hits total hits in game two of the doubleheader.

Brandon McHenry recorded the win in relief with three innings logged in the books. He surrendered two runs on two hits moving his record to 1-0. Josh Clarke pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save which was his second in 2012. Brett Blaise started the game and pitched the first two innings allowing two runs on one hit. Mark Husband also made an appearance out of the bullpen pitching a scoreless sixth frame.

Hilger, Divito, and Frederick had the only hits for LSUA in the second game. Josh Palmer took the loss as he was tagged with all seven runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out two in the loss. Stefan Porche tossed three scoreless innings out of the pen and kept the Generals in the game.
