JACKSON, Miss.-The Belhaven baseball team pulled out a 2-1 victory Thursday afternoon over Tougaloo at Smith-Wills Stadium. The Blazers, ranked 15th in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, scored a run in the eighth and one in the ninth for the come from behind victory.
Tougaloo (0-10) jumped in front in the top of the second when first baseman Donnie Norwood, Jr. legged out an infield single which chased home courtesy runner Jabari Carr for the first run of the game. The score remained 1-0 until the eighth when left fielder
Anthony Doss beat out an infield it and then sprinted across the plate on an RBI double by third baseman
Bud Britt to the gap in left center. Then in the ninth, center fielder
Joshua Bouldin walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher Nathan Foreman. Following a pop-up by right fielder
Jason Hicks, Doss ended the game on a single to left center field sending in Boulding for the 2-1 victory.
Belhaven was led by Doss at the plate as the senior went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Britt was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Hicks chipped in with two hits in four at bats. Bouldin,

Brandon McHenry started the game for Belhaven on the mound and went eight strong innings allowing only one run on four hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts.
Mark Husband pitched the ninth and took home the win in relief tossing a scoreless frame with a pair of strikeouts.
Tougaloo had two hits each from Norwood, Jr. and Dustin Porter with Norwood producing the only RBI. Rodney McKay pitched all 8.1 innings for the Bulldogs and suffered the loss. He gave up two runs on eight hits while walking five and striking out six.
Belhaven will open up Southern States Athletic Conference play this weekend hosting Loyola University (NO) in a three game series at Smith-Wills Stadium starting on Friday at 2:30 in game one of a doubleheader.
