Box Score
CLEVELAND, Tenn.-The Belhaven women's basketball team had its five game winning streak snapped at 9th ranked Lee University Saturday afternoon 86-74 in Southern States Athletic Conference action. The Blazers, who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, never led in the game, but kept it close until late in the second half.

The Blazers started off the contest slow trailing 11-5 with just under five minutes gone by in the first half. Belhaven played catch up most of the first half, trailing by as many 14 points. With less than five minutes left in the half, the Blazers managed to cut into lead on a Regena Jackson basket making the score 37-27. Lee would hold a 10 point lead until the 2:26 mark when Jessica Barlow got a put back score making it an eight point advantage for the Flames. In the final stretch of the first half, junior Windy Charles was able to drain four straight free throws shaving the lead down to four leading to a halftime score of 41-37.

Belhaven got off to a quicker start in the second half thanks in part to a Jackson field goal that cut the Flames lead down to three at 49-46 with less than five minutes off the clock. With 11:02 left to go, senior Portia Tucker set up sophomore Erika Leflore for the basket as the Blazers pulled within one point 56-55. The one point deficit would be the closest the Blazers would get as the Flames pulled away in the final minutes. With less than five to play, Lee corralled an 11 point lead from an Angela Spann field goal. The Flames managed to close out the game on an 8-6 run giving them an 86-74 victory.

Belhaven (12-5, 5-1 SSAC) was led by senior guard Regena Jackson with a game high 28 points. It was the eighth time this season that Jackson scored at least 20 or more points in a game. She is averaging 21 points per contest following today's game. Sophomore Ericka Leflore and senior Jessica Barlow each had 10 points. Barlow paced the Blazers with six rebounds off the bench. Senior Kiara Johnson sent in nine points while Carr and Charles chipped in with eight points each. As a team, Belhaven shot 47.4 percent from the floor (27 of 57) and trailed Lee in rebounding 31-22.

Lee (14-1, 6-0 SSAC) had three players with double figures in scoring, led by Angela Spann with 20 points. Kally Eldridge recorded 16 points and Hollie German notched 13 points on the afternoon. Mary Jackson was the Flames leading rebounder with seven off the bench. Lee was tough to contain on offense hitting 53.6 percent of their shots from the field (30 for 56). The Flames dialed up 11 triples in 22 attempts which certainly had a big impact on the point production.
