Jackson, MS-The Belhaven baseball team opened up a short two game non-conference series with Reinhardt College by posting a 6-4 comeback victory at Smith-Wills Stadium on Tuesday night. The Blazers fell behind 2-0 in the fourth inning, but scored a run in the fifth, two runs in the sixth, and three more in the seventh to notch the win.
Belhaven (12-3) starting pitcher
Riley Galloway and Reinhardt starter Ben Gonglach kept the hitters off balance through the first three innings as both hurlers posted zeros on the scoreboard. The Eagles were able to get to Galloway for two runs in the fourth on four hits. With one out, Brett Flick singled to right field and then stole second base to get into scoring position. After a pop up to second by Brent Martin for the second out, Michael Willis brought in Flick on a base hit to right field making it a 1-0 game. Joe Neighoff eventually cashed in Willis with an RBI single to center putting Reinhardt up 2-0.

Mark Gray came in and stole second base setting up and RBI double off the bat of
Craig Dean to bring the Blazers within a run at 2-1.
Golden Grasse then came into pitch in the top of the sixth after Galloway gave up a leadoff triple to Willis. Grasse hit Jeremy Roberts to put runners on the corners with nobody out, but got the next three batters to keep the Eagles off the board.
Belhaven's offense then responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to grab a 3-2 lead.
Brandon Benton tripled home
Lake Eiland who had reached on a fielder's choice and
Timmy Foster brought in Benton on an RBI groundout to short. The Blazers found themselves in trouble again in the top of the seventh when Reinhardt (6-4) loaded the bases with nobody out.
Brandt Hinton came in to relieve Grasse who started the inning and induced a double play ground ball off the bat of Martin. The tying run scored on the play, but there were now two outs in the inning. Hinton was then able to get Willis to ground out to first base and end the threat keeping the game tied at 3-3.
The seventh inning proved to be the turning point in the game as Belhaven rallied for three runs in their half of the inning.
Shawn Diehl picked up an RBI base hit plating Dean and later scored on a balk by pitcher Matt Barger. Eiland capped the inning off with a base hit to left field sending home Dillard for the six run of the night. Leading 6-3, Belhaven brought in their closer
Wade Broyles who pitched the eighth and ninth innings for his fourth save this season. Broyles gave up a lone run in the ninth on two hits, but struck out six batters in two innings.
Hinton got the win in relief to go to 3-0 on the season after pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Galloway pitched well for the Blazers going the first five innings allowing only two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts. Grasse pitched one inning and surrendered one unearned run. Dean led the Blazers offense going 2 for 4 at the plate with one run batted in. Eiland, Benton, and Diehl collected a hit and an RBI each in the contest.
Reinhardt relief pitcher Matt Barger took the loss allowing four runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work. Gonglach pitched the first five innings of the game for the Eagles surrendering two runs on two hits. Flick led the Reinhardt offense in hits with three while Willis tallied two hits and an RBI. Martin and Niehoff had the other runs batted in for the Eagles.
Belhaven will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Reinhardt College once again at Smith-Wills Stadium.
