Game One
The Blazers captured game one in five innings due in large part to a seven offensive explosion in the bottom of the third inning. Belhaven got a single run to open the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when
Chanse Cooper led off with a single, stole second and third base, and crossed the plate on a sac fly by
Timmy Foster.
The seven run third inning began with a misplayed ground ball by Jeffrey David on a hard shot off the bat of
Shawn Diehl. Belhaven then reeled off six straight hits including three triples to get the offense going.
Lake Eiland,
Craig Westcott, and
Charlie Edwards all drove in runs on their triples. Cooper, Foster,
Brent Hudson, and
Brian McCormick also provided base hits in the inning for the Blazers.
Belhaven ended the game by putting the 10 run rule into effect in the bottom of the fifth with two scores to end the game at 10-0. The Blazers loaded the bases with nobody out and scored the first of their two runs on a base hit by
Shawn Diehl. Eiland then delivered the game winner with a base hit through the hole at short bringing in
Chad Howard from third base.
Westcott pitched his second consecutive no hitter as he dominated the Loyola offense for the entire game. Westcott fanned seven batters and the only base runner of the game came on a walk to Bobby Alvarez in the top of the third. For Westcott, it was his sixth win of the year against only two defeats.

Foster had 2 RBI's and Westcott, Hudson, McCormick, and Diehl also drove in one run apiece against the Wolfpack. Eric Walsh took the loss for Loyola giving up seven of the ten runs on eight hits.
Game Two
Game Two on Saturday looked like it might be a low scoring contest at the outset as neither team could crack the scoreboard through the first three innings of play. Belhaven starting pitcher
Brandt Hinton and Loyola's George Smith kept the offenses off balance in the early moments of the game.
The Blazers broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth when
Kyle Feazell drew a one out walk.
Chad Howard pinch ran and eventually made it to third on a pair of stolen bases. Howard came home on a passed ball by the catcher Matt Wendt to give Belhaven a 1-0 lead.
The Blazers jumped ahead 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth with three runs on three hits and a Loyola error. Belhaven had a pair of doubles in the inning and collected two more stolen bases to help account for the three runs. Hudson and Feazell were credited with RBI's in the inning.
In the bottom of the sixth Westcott connected on a 1-0 pitch by Smith and blasted it over the right field wall for his fifth home run of the season. The two run shot by Westcott extended the Blazer lead to 6-0. Belhaven finished off the Wolfpack in the bottom of the eighth inning with four runs on just two hits. Loyola also had a couple of costly errors which the Blazers took full advantage of. The final two runs of the game came in on the Wolfpack miscues.
Hinton pitched all eight innings for Belhaven to get the win and even his season record at 4-4. Hinton allowed just two hits while striking out five during the course of the game. Hinton was consistently in the strike zone and worked efficiently on the mound having thrown only 75 pitches in the game.
Offensively, Westcott and
Austin Fagan led the team with 2 RBI's. Fagan was a late defensive substitution and drilled a two run bases loaded single up the middle in the eighth in his only plate appearance. Hudson and Feazell each had an RBI for the Blazers in game two if the day.
