Mobile, AL-The Belhaven baseball team won one and lost one on Saturday at the University of Mobile earning a two games to one series victory against the Rams over the weekend. Saturday afternoon started with the Blazers winning the suspended game from Friday 8-7, but then lost in Saturday's regularly scheduled contest 12-4. Belhaven is now 14-7 overall and 9-5 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. Mobile is currently 10-11 overall and 7-8 on conference play.

Friday nights second game ended up being suspended after the eighth inning due to darkness so prior to Saturday's game the ninth inning was played and the game was completed. Belhaven fell behind early as Mobile got on the scoreboard first with four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Carlos Romero and David Cramblitt each had home runs in the inning off of Blazer starting pitcher Craig Westcott.

The Blazers came right back in the top of the third and plated five runs of their own after two men were out. Timmy Foster and Westcott had RBI singles to drive in the first two runs. Brent Hudson then double down the right field line scoring Foster and Charlie Edwards followed with a two run double down the left field line to make the score 5-4 in favor of the Blazers.

The Rams countered with two runs in their half of the third inning to regain the advantage over Belhaven. Chris Bennett came in to relieve Westcott with one out in the inning and worked out of a bases loaded jam. At the plate in the top of the fourth, Westcott came through with what would prove to be the game winning hit. Westcott blasted a three run homer over the left field fence, which was his second of the year, to make the score 8-6 Belhaven.

The score remained that way until the bottom of the ninth when Mobile scored a run to make it 8-7. The Rams had the tying run on third but closer Kyle Medley got pinch hitter Wade Delaneuville to pop out to end the game. It was Medley's eighth save of the 2009 campaign.

Chris Bennett pitched 5.2 innings in relief and got his first win of the season. Westcott went 3 for 5 at the plate with 4 RBI's to lead the offense. Foster also collected three hits and an RBI and Edwards also drive in two runs. Spence McDonald suffered the loss for Mobile.

Belhaven did not fair as well in Saturday's game losing 12-4 to the Rams. Things looked good early with Belhaven plating two runs in the top of the first and led 2-0 after one inning of play. Belhaven starting pitcher Brandt Hinton struggled to get through the bottom of the second surrendering five runs to the Rams making the score 5-2 Mobile.

Belhaven chipped away at the lead scoring a run in the top of the third and added another single tally in the top of the fourth. The run in the third scored on a single by Westcott and then in the fourth Craig Dean belted his second homer of the year. Unfortunately, the Blazers would not score again the rest of the game. Mobile went on to send across five more runs in the bottom of the fourth and added single runs in the seventh and eighth to pull away for the 12-4 win.
