Talladega, Al- The Belhaven women's basketball team had the lead after the first half 38-30, but could not hang on for the win as Talladega College came back to defeat the Blazers 71-59 on Tuesday night at Talladega. The loss puts the Blazers at 5-2 overall on the season.

Jira Williams led the Belhaven offense with 14 points and two assists. Senior
Courtney Ward had a solid game for the Blazers with a game high 11 points and one assist while senior
Mallory Hammack added in eight points. As a team, Belhaven shot 38.3 percent from the floor and 25 percent from behind the three point line. The Blazers had their best night this season from the free throw line making 18 out of 21. Defensively, the Blazers were led by Ward with four steals. As a team, Belhaven forced Talladega into 23 turnovers while committing 15 of their own.
The Tornados had three players reach double digits in scoring as Morgan Bennet, Tamiko Rounds, and Ebony Richardson contributed 16 points, 14 points, and 13 points respectively. Morgan also earned a double double with 13 rebounds on the night. As a team, Talladega made 32.8 percent of their field goals, 26.3 percent of their three point attempts, and 75.9 percent of their free throws. The Tornadoes had the edge in rebounds at 35-28.
On the season, Williams leads Belhaven with a14.1 points per game avergae and 21 steals.
Jessica Barlow has a team high 57 rebounds while Ward leads Belhaven with a total of 22 assists.
