Hattiesburg, MS-The Belhaven men's and women's cross country teams competed in the University of Southern Mississippi Open on Friday afternoon in Hattiesburg. The Blazer men finished fourth out of five teams with an overall time of 2:09:43 while the Blazer women competed as individuals.

                                    

For the men, Peter Davis was the top finisher for Belhaven placing 19^th out of 37 runners with a time of 24:24 in the four mile run. Luke Lennon completed the course in 25:11 to record a 22^nd place followed by Douglas Coker (25^th), Andrew Sinclair (28^th), Nathaniel Rossman (31^st), and Sonny Gunn (34^th) with times of 25:54, 26:54, 27:18, and 31:18 respectively. Xavier University of New Orleans won the meet as a team with a time of 1:57:03.

 

One the women's side, Lea Schumacher was Belhaven's top finisher crossing the line in 24^th place with a time of 23:05. Callie Osborn (26^th) and Nikki Stackhouse (39^th) recorded times of 23:24 and 33:05 in the 5k run. Nichols State had the top team finish with a total time of 1:34:51.
