JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven golfer Tyler Schingle was selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week after winning the Louisiana College Invitational Sept. 19-20 at the Alexandria Country Club in Alexandria, La.
The junior shot a tournament-best 73 in the opening round on the par 72 course and finished with a 73 in the final round. He fought off Joe Bourque of Louisiana College in the final round to win by two strokes.Â
The Walls, Miss. native is coming off a runner-up finish at the NCCAA Mideast Regional Sept. 12-13, where he qualified for the NCCAA National Championship, beginning Oct. 24 at The Hombre Golf Course in Panama City Beach, Fla.Â
The Blazers return to the links on Oct. 3 and 4 at the Henderson State University Invitational.Â
