JACKSON, Miss. – Belhaven Softball player Carly Yasses has been selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following her performance this past week ending March 5.
Yasses was dominant at the plate for the Blazers this week, helping Belhaven to a 5-0 week, including a doubleheader sweep of Centenary and a three-game sweep of Concordia Texas.
The senior was 7-for-12 at the plate with three homeruns and seven RBIs. She hit two homeruns in the same game vs Centenary, part of a three homerun day.
The catcher also had a double and finished with 17 total bases at the plate, slugging 1.417 for the week. Yasses was also hit twice and finished the week with a .643 on base percentage.
Yasses came around to score a team-high seven runs for the Blazers on the week, while also reaching base safely in every game and also had an RBI in every game for the Blazers.
This is the second time Yasses has won the award, also being named to it February 16, after the season opening week for Belhaven.
Belhaven is set to return to action on Friday and Saturday with a trip to Clarksville, Arkansas to take on the University of the Ozarks.
