One of this week's "Cellular South Athletes of the Week" is Brett Blaise of the Blazer baseball team. Blaise, a junior left hander from Columbus, MS, turned in one of his best outings of the season by firing a complete game shutout at Auburn University-Montgomery. Blaise struck out six and allowed only four hits running his record to 5-1 this season. His ERA now stands at 2.77 with a pair of complete games in 2011. Blaise is tied for 10th in the SSAC in total wins and is 16th in the league in earned run average. Blaise was also named the Southern States Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
