JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven Volleyball sophomore
Maggie Joy Tomlin has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Setter of the Week following a strong opening week for the Blazers.
Tomlin ran the Belhaven offense across five matches, finishing the week with 132 assists in 17 sets. Her average of 7.76 assists per set leads the CCS.
The Watkinsville, Georgia, native recorded at least 20 assists in all five matches. She opened the season with 25 against Millsaps and matched that total against Concordia Texas before turning in a season-high 31-assist performance against Austin College.
Tomlin added 27 assists and 13 digs against Paul Quinn, then closed the weekend with 24 assists and seven service aces against Dallas. Five of those aces came during a seven-point service run that helped Belhaven take the second set, 25-14.
Along with her work at setter, Tomlin totaled 45 digs and recorded two double-doubles during the week. She collected 25 assists and 10 digs in the season opener against Millsaps before posting 27 assists and 13 digs against Paul Quinn.
Belhaven returns to Rugg Arena on Friday for matches against LeTourneau at 3:00 p.m. and Centenary at 7:00 p.m. The Blazers will also host Principia at noon the following day.
