JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven returned from Georgia with two conference wins and no goals conceded. On Tuesday, the Collegiate Conference of the South recognized two Blazer players, naming senior goalkeeper
Addi Roberts its Defensive Player of the Week and freshman center back
Hayden Kessler its Rookie of the Week.
Roberts played all 90 minutes of Saturday's 2-0 win at Piedmont and made nine saves, six of them after halftime. The Florence, Mississippi, native kept Belhaven in front while the Lions pressed for an equalizer, then turned away two more shots in the final three minutes to finish the shutout. She has 34 saves in six appearances this season.
It is Roberts' third career CCS Defensive Player of the Week award and her second this fall. She also earned the honor on Sept. 9, following a 12-save, two-match stretch to open the season, and on Sept. 30, 2025.
Kessler played 141 minutes across last week's 4-0 win at Agnes Scott and the shutout at Piedmont. Belhaven did not allow Agnes Scott a shot during the match, and Kessler supplied the assist on
Jensen Ward's second-half goal. The Spanish Fort, Alabama, native then played the full 90 minutes against Piedmont as the Blazers protected their lead under sustained pressure. It is the first CCS weekly honor of her career.
Belhaven has won three straight to move to 4-2-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Blazers have outscored CCS opponents 10-1 and recorded four shutouts through seven matches this season.
Belhaven returns to Belhaven Bowl Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 1, to host Pensacola State. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
