ATLANTA, Ga. - Kimona Haynes has been the standard in the CCS all season, and the conference made it official.
Haynes was named the 2026 CCS Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year, earning the honor for the second straight season and the second time in her career after a spring where she led the league in just about everything she ran.
She finished the year with the top times in the conference in the 100 meters (12.04), 200 meters (24.26), and 400 meters (54.80). Her 200M PR of 24.26 came early at the Belhaven Invitational and set the tone. Not long after, she dropped a 12.04 in the 100 at the Southern Miss Invitational, another personal best that held as the fastest time in the CCS all year.
By the time the conference meet rolled around, she was in control. At the CCS Championships, Haynes delivered one of her best weekends of the season. She ran a personal-best 54.80 in the 400 prelims, then came back to win the final in 58.85. She added another title in the 200, running 24.66 in the final after qualifying the day before.
She also played a key role in Belhaven's 4x400 relay team that took first at 4:12.90, closing out the meet with another win on the home track.
What stands out is how steady she was from start to finish. Early in the year, she was running 12.25 in the 100 and 55.06 in the 400. By April, those marks had dropped to 12.04 and 54.80. The 200 followed the same path, improving into the mid-24 range and eventually becoming the best time in the conference.
It wasn't one big moment. It was a full season of stacking results.
Now, she's got the hardware to match it. Haynes holds the CCS record for career First Team All-Conference selections with nine and has 15 total all-conference honors, the most in league history. She was also voted the 2026 CCS overall Athlete of the Year, adding another line to an already loaded resume.
For a second straight year, she set the pace in the CCS. And no one caught her.
