ATLANTA - Belhaven Athletics has won the Collegiate Conference of the South Men's Commissioner's Cup for the 2024-25 competition year as announced by the league on Thursday. The award is designed to highlight the top athletics' program in the league in each season of competition. Belhaven is joined by Piedmont who won the Women's Cup and Asbury who took the overall award.
"Competing for championships is half of our mission, alongside leading student-athletes to mature as men and women created in the image of God," said Belhaven's Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Little in a release from the CCS. "We are thankful to receive this award as it represents the talent and work ethic of our athletes, the leadership of our coaches and staff, and a campus community who loves and supports our students day after day. We also congratulate Asbury and Piedmont on their outstanding achievements as well."Â
"The Commissioner's Cup represents the depth and dedication of our student-athletes and athletic departments across all sports," said CCS Commissioner Beth Vansant on this year's awards. "We are thrilled to celebrate the continued success of our returning members and the remarkable debut by our newest institution, Asbury University. Their accomplishments speak volumes about the growth and competitive balance of our league."
The Blazers had a strong season across the board in Men's sports which was highlighted by a conference championship in Men's Soccer and a share of the regular season title Men's Basketball.Â
The Men's Soccer tournament title marked the first conference championship as an NCAA team for the storied program and earned the team's first bid to an NCAA Tournament. On the Men's Basketball side, the Blazers put together one of their best seasons in recent memory and finished the regular season with a share of the league title alongside Maryville.
The Belhaven Baseball program also had a strong campaign as they placed second in the CCS Regular Season standings and finished as the league's tournament runner-up ahead of making their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance as an at-large bid.Â
Belhaven's Men's Track and Field team and Tennis team also helped the Blazers to a strong season across the board as they both posted top four league finishes in their respective campaigns highlighting the Blazers'Â high level of competition.
