Kimona Haynes, Neal Terry Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven track and field is headed back to the national stage as Kimona Haynes and Neal Terry officially qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this week in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Terry qualified in both the long jump and triple jump, while Haynes earned national spots in the 200M and 400M  after another strong outdoor season for the Blazers.

The NCAA Championships are scheduled for May 21-23 at Veterans Memorial Field. Terry is set to compete in the men's long jump on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. before returning Saturday for the triple jump finals at 11:00 a.m. Haynes will run in the 400M prelims Friday at 4:50 p.m. and the 200M prelims later that evening at 5:40 p.m.

Terry continued to put together one of the best field seasons in program and conference history this spring. Terry, a senior, broke his own CCS record in the long jump with a mark of 7.31m at the Rhodes 7-Way Meet earlier this season and later added a CCS-record 15.11m in the triple jump at the conference championships. His performance at the CCS meet helped him earn CCS Field Athlete of the Meet honors for the third straight year.

Last weekend at the Lee University Last Chance Meet, Terry won the long jump with a leap of 7.16m and finished second in the triple jump at 14.53m while competing against a field filled with Division II and nationally-ranked athletes. He turned in big performances throughout the outdoor season. Along with his conference-record marks, he also posted jumps of 7.19m at the CCS Championships and 7.14m at the Belhaven Mid Week Challenge. In the triple jump, he added marks of 14.86m at the Belhaven Mid Week Challenge and 14.47m at the Rhodes 7-Way Meet.

Over the course of his career, Terry has become one of the most decorated athletes in CCS history. He owns the conference record with nine career First Team All-Conference selections and spent much of the outdoor season ranked among the top jumpers in Division III.

Haynes put together another standout season for the Blazers and will head to nationals in two events. She enters the NCAA Championships with the sixth-fastest 400m time in Division III after running a personal-best 54.80 at the CCS Championships. She also qualified in the 200m with a school-record and CCS-leading 24.26 at the Belhaven Invitational, a time that ranks 14th nationally heading into the national meet.

Haynes also posted the top 100m time in the CCS this season after running a 12.04 at the Southern Miss Invitational. At the Lee University Last Chance Meet, she finished 10th in the 200M with a time of 24.54 seconds and placed seventh in the 400M at 56.21 against a deep field that included several nationally-ranked Division II and NAIA runners.

Earlier this spring, Haynes was named the CCS Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season after another dominant conference campaign. She also holds the CCS records for career First Team All-Conference selections with nine and overall all-conference honors with 15.

The Blazers will now prepare for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships beginning May 21 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, with Terry and Haynes representing the Blazers on the national stage once again.
