JACKSON, Miss. - As 2025 draws to a close, Belhaven Athletics is proud to recount some of the many moments displayed by Blazers student-athletes and teams that made this calendar year one to remember. Over the remainder of the year, multiple moments will be recounted, featuring each of Belhaven's athletics programs.
TOP MOMENTS OF 2025: TRACK & FIELD TRIO RAKES IN POSTSEASON AWARDS
Our next top moment in our 2025 recap returns to Track & Field season when a trio of Belhaven T&F athletes pulled in a number of significant postseason awards including Collegiate Conference of the South superlatives and USTFCCA All-Region recognition.
Kimona Haynes and
Ashaunti Jones of the Belhaven Women's Track & Field team have each earned All-Region recognition by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Kimona Haynes posted a 55.95 second time in the 400 which landed her among the top 40 finishes in Division III this season. Haynes had a career year for the Blazers, taking the individual conference championship in the 100, 200 and 400 as well as earning the CCS Women's Track Athlete of the Meet, the Women's Overall Athlete of the Meet and the Women's Athlete of the Year.
Ashaunti Jones turned in her
top time in the 400 Meters at the Lee University Last Chance Meet where she posted a time of 55.49 seconds which ranks as one of the top 30 times in the nation. Jones had a strong close to the year, helping the Blazers to CCS championships in the 4 x 100 relay and 4 x 400 relay as well as picking up silver medals in the 100, 200 and 400.
Neal Terry earned All-South Region honors in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump resulting from the Mississippi native holding a top five distance in each event in the region. In the Triple Jump, Terry's best result came in the Belhaven Twilight meet in April where he posted a distance of 14.86 meters, a distance which ranks 10th in the country overall.
In the Long Jump, Terry posted a season best distance at the Belhaven Invitational back in March where he leaped 7.20 meters, a top 30 distance in Division III this season. Last season, Terry also racked up three conference championships in the CCS, taking top spot in the Long Jump, Triple Jump as well as the High Jump. His dominant year in the conference earned him Men's Field Athlete of the Meet at the CCS Championships and the CCS Men's Overall Athlete of the Year.
The 2026 Outdoor Track & Field season is just a couple of months away with Haynes and Terry returning to help lead the Blazers in meet action.
