JACKSON, Miss. - As 2025 draws to a close, Belhaven Athletics is proud to recount some of the many moments displayed by Blazers student-athletes and teams that made this calendar year one to remember. Over the remainder of the year, multiple moments will be recounted, featuring each of Belhaven's athletics programs.
TOP MOMENTS OF 2025: BELHAVENÂ EARNS CCS REGULAR SEASON-CO-CHAMPIONSHIP
Our eighth top moment comes from the Belhaven Men's Basketball team, who earned a share of the CCS regular season championship in the 2024-25 season.
The Belhaven Men's Basketball team has finished the regular season as Co-Champions of the Collegiate Conference of the South alongside Maryville with matching 11-1 records in conference play.
The Blazers, whose 11-1 conference mark was their best ever in the CCS, earn their first share of conference title at the NCAA Division III level. Belhaven finished the regular season 21-4 overall which also marks their best record, and only 20-win season, since 2009-10.
This season already has gone down as one of the most successful in program history with more still to play for in the CCS Tournament including the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the tournament champion. Along with their 20-win season, the Blazers posted the 2nd longest win streak in program history at 16 games running from December 11th through February 15th.Â
Belhaven will be the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament slated to start on Tuesday due to a tiebreaker between the Blazers and Maryville utilizing the NCAA's NPI rankings metric which separates the two teams by just over one-tenth of a point.
As a top-2 seed, Belhaven has a bye through the Quarterfinals of the conference tournament on Tuesday and will move straight to the semifinals on Friday where they will await the winner of No. 3 Huntingdon and No. 6 Piedmont. Maryville receives the league's other top seed bye and will face the winner of No. 4 Asbury and No. 5 Covenant.
The final rounds of the tournament are set to be held at Maryville this coming weekend with Belhaven's semifinal game slated for Friday, February 28th. Belhaven will be looking for a win in Friday's semifinal to book their third straight appearance in the CCS Championship Game.
The Blazers are currently 4-7 heading into the 2026 portion of the season with two more non-conference games before opening up CCS play on January 6th vs. LaGrange.
