JACKSON, Miss. -
The Belhaven Women's Soccer team will host the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Championship on Saturday, November 8th, as the No. 2 seed Blazers face No. 5 seed Asbury at Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM as the Blazers seek their first CCS title in their second straight appearance in the championship match.

How They Got Here

Belhaven (13-4-3, (6-1-1 CCS) advanced to the final after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Piedmont in Tuesday's semifinal in Jackson. The Blazer's snapped the Lions 11-match win streak with the win. They earned the No. 2 seed with a 6-1-1 conference record, have gone 9-1 in their last 10 matches at home and have outscored opponents 46-3 in those contests.

Asbury (10-6-4, 4-3-1 CCS) earned its spot in the title game as the No. 5 seed after upsetting No. 4 seed Covenant in the quarterfinals and No. 1 seed Maryville earlier this week in the semifinals. Saturday's meeting marks the second time this season the two programs square off after the teams played to a 2-2 draw on October 18 in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Blazers by the Numbers

The Blazers enter the championship match among the most complete teams in the CCS, ranking near the top in every statistical category. Belhaven has outscored opponents 62-14 and averages 3.10 goals per game while holding opponents to 0.70. The team has posted 13 shutouts through 20 matches and has not allowed more than two goals in any game this season.

The offense has been driven by senior midfielder Emma Antonoplos (Jacksonville, Fla.), the CCS Offensive Player of the Year, who leads the Blazers with 12 goals, three assists and 27 points. Fellow senior Lauren Snell (Ballwin, Mo.), a first-team All-CCS selection, adds a career-high seven goals and six assists, while freshman forward Alexis Whiting (Mandeville, La.) contributes seven goals and a .467 shot percentage, one of the highest marks in the conference.

Depth has been a key strength, with 11 different Blazers finding the back of the net this season. Micah Benson (five goals) and Kelly McLaughlin (4 goals) provide consistent scoring options, while defenders Reagan Nichols (Sugar Land, TX.), Lillian Harvey (Greenwood, Miss.), and Jennifer Neal (Pearl, Miss.) anchored a back line that has allowed only 117 shots (5.9 per game) all season.

Eagles by the Numbers

Offensively, Asbury has produced 44 goals in 20 matches, averaging 2.20 per match. The Eagles have also recorded nine shutouts behind a balanced attack led by senior forward Hannah Muncie and junior midfielder Anna Sparks, both of whom were named to the CCS All-Conference First Team last week.

Muncie paces the lineup with 13 goals and 28 total points, including four game-winners. Sparks totaled seven goals and eight assists thus far this season.

Defensively, goalkeeper Peyton Steiniger, who was named CCS Second Team All-Conference, has anchored the back line with a .817 save percentage and a 1.33 goals-against average, collecting five clean sheets in 16 starts.

Between the Posts

Freshman goalkeeper Addi Roberts has been a steady presence all year with a 9-4-2 record, 0.99 GAA, and four shutouts.

Last Time They Met

In the regular-season meeting, Belhaven and Asbury traded goals in each half to finish 2-2 in Wilmore. The Blazers held a 13-7 shot advantage and 9-2 margin in corners but were denied a late winner by a strong defensive effort from the Eagles.
