Men's Soccer Set to Host Huntingdon in CCS Quarterfinals

JACKSON - The Belhaven men's soccer team heads into postseason play at the No. 3 seed, hosting No. 6 seed Huntingdon in the CCS Quarterfinals tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.

Record vs. the Hawks
The Blazers are 7-1-1 all-time against the Hawks, including a 2-0 win earlier this month. Belhaven has held Huntingdon scoreless in each of their last five matches. The Blazers have scored an average of 1.78 goals per match against the Hawks.

Road Back to the Championship
The defending CCS Champions finished the regular season with a 9-5-4 overall record. The Blazers finished with nine wins, the third consecutive season with at least that many wins. Belhaven has been highlighted by their defense, where the squad has allowed less than one goal in five of its six conference matches this season.

Hawks Season in Review
Huntingdon is led by forward Dashun McDonald, who is tied for the conference lead with eight goals, and goalkeeper Trent Wineberg, whose 110 saves ranks atop the conference leaderboard. The Hawks conference win came at Piedmont on Oct. 18.

Bahena the Behemoth
Reigning CCS Goalkeeper of the Year Danny Bahena has been dominant in the net during his senior season. Five of his seven wins have come on shutouts, including the Blazers' last match vs. Huntingdon earlier this season.

Stone Cold Ciaran Colvin
Defensive back Ciaran Colvin has been phenomenal in his sophomore season with the Blazers, earning two CCS Defensive Player of the Week honors in October alone. Colvin scored both goals in a win over Hardin-Simmons earlier this month, while leading the Blazers in minutes played with 1,441.

Depth and Versatility
Four different Blazers have scored at least four goals this season (Avery Anders, Courtland Williams, Louie Richard, Wesley Bloodworth), while five others have scored multiple goals this year.

Playoffs!
The Blazers match is the final of two CCS Tournament matches that night. No. 4 LaGrange is host to No. 5 Piedmont at 4:00 PM CT. The winner of the Belhaven/Huntingdon match will travel to No. 2 seed Maryville for a semifinal match on Saturday at 2:00 PM. The winner of LaGrange and Piedmont will travel to No. 1 seed Covenant that day as well.
