ROME, Ga. - Belhaven quarterback
Brock Morris (Jackson, Miss.) has been named the USA South Football Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday, following a standout performance in the Blazers' 28-7 victory on Saturday afternoon at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
Morris was exceptional under center, completing 20-of-34 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns to lead Belhaven to its fifth win of the season and keep the Blazers undefeated in USA South play at 4-0. It's the second time Morris has earned USA South Offensive Player of the Week honors, having earned it two weeks ago when he led the team to victory at NC Wesleyan.
The senior signal-caller guided scoring drives in each of the final three quarters, including a 93-yard march just before halftime capped by a 25-yard strike to Craft that gave Belhaven the lead for good. He added two more touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, connecting with Hatch and Garrison to help seal the win.
Saturday's effort marked Morris' fifth multi-touchdown game of the season and his second 300-yard passing performance in the last three weeks. Through seven games, the Jackson native has thrown for over 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Morris' leadership has been pivotal in Belhaven's 4-0 start to conference play, the second such time the team has started 4-0 in the USA South.
The Blazers (5-2, 4-0 USA South) will look to extend their unbeaten conference streak when they travel to Southern Virginia for their next league game on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
