Belhaven Football Stays Perfect in Conference with Homecoming Victory

JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven Football improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in USA South play with a 28-7 homecoming win vs. Methodist on Saturday afternoon at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

After a scoreless first quarter marked by defensive stops on both sides, Belhaven broke through midway through the second quarter when Julien Tabor caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Morris to cap a five-play, 33-yard drive. The visitors briefly tied the contest at 7-7 late in the half, but the Blazers regained the lead just before intermission.

With 22 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Tyler Craft hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Morris to finish off a 93-yard drive and give Belhaven a 14-7 advantage heading into the locker room.

Neither team found the end zone in the third quarter, but the Blazers' defense continued to dominate, limiting their opponent to negative rushing yards for much of the period and forcing three punts.

In the fourth, Morris and the Belhaven offense pulled away. TJ Hatch extended the lead with an 18-yard touchdown grab, his sixth catch of the day, before RJ Garrison added a one-yard touchdown reception to seal the win.

Morris completed 20-of-34 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns, recording his sixth multi-TD game of the season. Hatch posted a team-high 115 yards receiving, while Garrison (62 yards) and Craft (44 yards) each caught touchdowns. Tabor's 17-yard score rounded out a balanced aerial attack that accounted for all four touchdowns.

Belhaven's defense was dominant from start to finish allowing just 108 total yards, including only three rushing yards on 23 attempts. Wyatt Beck led the way with nine tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss, while Austin Maloney added a sack and forced fumble.

The Blazers also picked off two passes: Icarius Hodgin returned an interception 20 yards for his second interception in two games. Brayden Bullock added another late takeaway. As a unit, Belhaven recorded nine tackles for loss and four sacks.

The Blazers remain undefeated in USA South competition and will look to continue their momentum when they travel to Southern Virginia next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
