JACKSON - Jimmy Byrd (Mt. Vernon, Ala.) of the Belhaven Football team and Ashley Davidson (Saucier, Miss.) of the Belhaven Women's Cross Country team team have been named the C Spire Athletes of the Week following their strong performances in competition for the Blazers this past week.

Byrd, a junior, recorded a career-high three tackles for loss, while adding five tackles and a sack last weekend vs. Greensboro.

Davidson, a junior, set a PR in the 6K this past weekend at The Watson Collegiate Classic, finishing at 25:57.2, almost a minute better than her previous best time.

Byrd and the Blazers host Methodist on Saturday for Homecoming Weekend. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.

Davidson and the cross country team have a week off before competing at the CCS Championships on Friday, October. 31 at Huntsville, Ala.
