BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Belhaven Track & Field program opened up 2025 with their first meet of the calendar year at the Samford Invitational hosted by Division I Samford University.
The Blazers had a number of strong performances in the indoor meet which will be the first of two meets this weekend with the second also hosted by Samford in Birmingham.
Ashaunti Barnes had the standout performance for the Belhaven Women as she placed 6th overall in the 400 Meters with a time of 57.48 seconds and was joined in the event by
Kimona Haynes who also recorded a top 10 finish with a time of 58.97 seconds.
Jakia Joiner joined Barnes in turning in a top 10 event finish as she placed 7th overall in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.71 meters.
Natalie Black placed 11th in the same event with a distance of 10.44 meters.
On the Men's side, the Blazers saw a strong performance in Long Jump with four competitors landing in the top 35 overall.
Jonah Moore led the way with a distance of 5.79 meters and was closely followed by
Alex Reed at 5.66 meters.

Belhaven returns to action on Saturday in the Samford Open, also to be hosted in Birmingham. The first event is set to start at 10:00 AM.
