MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Belhaven Track & Field Program continued their successful Outdoor campaign on Saturday at the Rhodes 7-Way Invitational hosted by Rhodes College. The Blazers saw multiple event victories and program records as they continue to rewrite Belhaven's record book this spring.
WOMEN
The Belhaven Women's 4 x 100 Meter Relay team picked up a 2nd place finish at the Rhodes Meet, turning in a time of 47.70 seconds, just over a second off the pace of the program record they set at the Southern Miss Invitational at the end of March.
Ashaunti Barnes and
Kimona Haynes provided a strong showing in the Women's 400 Meters, placing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the event, with Barnes coming within two-tenths of a second of Haynes' program record.
Syniah Sims also grabbed a pair of top five finishes on the day in the Women's 100 Meters and 200 Meters.
MEN
Neal Terry started the day on a strong note for the Blazers, taking top spot in the Men's High Jump with a height of 1.90 Meters. Then the Belhaven Men's 4 x 100 Meter Relay team turned in a program record performance on the day with a time of 41.32 seconds, besting the previous high set at the Belhaven Invitational in March by over two-tenths of a second.
Kelsey Singleton continued his dominant sophomore campaign turning in an event win in the Men's 400 Meters while also setting a new program record in the event with a 47.18 seconds, outpacing his own record by nearly half a second.
Benjamin Adams and
Roderick Gordon also combined for a pair of top five finishes in the Men's Javelin.
The Blazers will next turn their attention to the MC Twilight Invitational on April 26th, their final meet before the CCS Championships on May 7th.Â
