HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Belhaven Track & Field team racked up a trio of program records while competing at the Southern Miss Invitational on Saturday.
On the women's side of the meet,
Kimona Haynes set a new program record in the 400 Meters with a time of 56.19 seconds at the Hattiesburg meet, placing 4th in the event. Haynes' time ranks among the best in the event in Division III and sets her up for a qualification to the NCAA Division III Championships later this spring.
The Belhaven Women's 4 x 100 Meter Relay team also set a new program record as
Ashaunti Barnes,
Kimona Haynes,
Anneshia Greer and
Syniah Sims turned in a 2nd place finish and a time of 46.47 seconds. Sims also turned in a top five finish in the Women's 100 Meters.Â
Kelsey Singleton rounded out the trio of new program records on the day as he set a new high mark in the Men's 400 Meters with a time of 47.64 seconds, good for 2nd place in the event on the day.Â
In field events,
Benjamin Adams turned in a 3rd place finish in the Men's Javelin with a season best distance of 53.39 meters while
Alex Reed posted a 6th place finish in the Men's Long Jump.
D'Asia Franklin landed a 4th place finish in the Women's High Jump.
Jelecia Brown posted a season best distance of 36.83 meters in the Women's Discus earning a 4th place finish at the meet.Â
The Blazers continue their historic 2024 Outdoor campaign as they head to Tennessee next to compete in the Rhodes Invitational on April 13th. All eyes remain on the Collegiate Conference of the South Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 7th where the Blazers are sure to make an impact.
