Nightingale Announces Football Coaching Hires for 2024 Season

JACKSON, Miss. – On Wednesday, Belhaven Head Football Coach CJ Nightingale announced four new coaching hires as the first-year coach fills out his staff for the upcoming 2024 season.
 
Brady Carson has been named Belhaven's new Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. Carson joins the Belhaven staff from the University of Texas – Permian Basin, an NCAA Division II program where he held the same title. Prior to his time at UTPB, Carson coached Outside Linebackers at Ouachita Baptist. His start in coaching began at his alma mater, Division III Birmingham-Southern where he served as an Undergraduate Assistant Coach.
 
Ty Nix has been named the Defensive Line Coach for the Blazers by Coach Nightingale. Nix joins Belhaven from Millsaps College where he was the Defensive Line Coach for the 2023 season. Prior to Millsaps, Nix was a Defensive Analyst at Division I Coastal Carolina for two seasons, assisting with the defensive line and running the scout team. Prior to Coastal Carolina, he spent time at East Carolina as a graduate assistant. Nix is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State where was a three-year letter-winner and 2020 team captain. Nix comes from a coaching family with his father Tyrone Nix having spent over 25 years coaching at the Division I level and his uncle Derrick Nix currently serving as the Offensive Coordinator for Auburn.
 
Jonston MacIntyre has been named Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for Belhaven by Coach Nightingale. MacIntyre joins the Blazers from Division I Florida International University where he served as a graduate assistant. MacIntyre has a background in Division III football having played Quarterback for Chapman University in Orange, California. MacIntyre comes from a strong coaching family with his father, Mike MacIntyre, currently serving as the Head Coach at FIU.
 
Josh Sheron has been named Co-Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach for Belhaven. Sheron heads to Jackson from Lawrence University, a Division III program in Appleton, Wisconsin where he served as O-Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator since 2021. Prior to Lawrence, Sheron served in multiple roles on the coaching staff at Indiana Wesleyan including coaching tackles, tight ends and working as Director of Football Operations. Sheron played at and graduated from Trine University.

The Blazers are set to open up Spring Ball on March 18th with a Spring Celebration Game set for Saturday, April 13th.
