JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Tennis teams were beaten on Saturday as they both fell to the Marion Military Institute in early season action.
WOMEN
The Blazers' Women fell 3-4 to MMI on the day but did see a couple of strong matches as a group.
Lillian Williams and
Kendra Williams picked up a doubles win in the #2 match-up as they took down their MMI counterparts 8-1.
Lillian Williams also grabbed a singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against her opponent while
Kendra Williams defeated her Marion opposition 6-4, 6-2.
MEN
The Belhaven Men fell 1-6 against Marion Military Institute in what was a tough afternoon for the Blazers. The top doubles pairing for the Blazers continued their strong start to the season as
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey took the top doubles match 9-8 over their opposition.
Both programs return to action on March 1st as they travel to Copiah-Lincoln Community College for a continuation of non-conference action. The Blazers will open their conference slate on March 2nd as they host Maryville at Parham Bridges Tennis Center.Â
