JACKSON - The No. 2 seed Belhaven Men's Soccer team opens up their CCS Tournament action against No. 3 Asbury on Saturday night inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff between the Blazers and Eagles is set for 6:00 PM.
The Blazers are looking to reach their second consecutive Collegiate Conference of the South Final with a win on Saturday. To do so, Belhaven will have to reverse the script against Asbury after suffering their lone conference defeat to the Eagles back on October 5th.
Seven Blazers earned All-CCS honors announced by the league on Wednesday, highlighted by
Danny Bahena being tabbed the CCS Goalkeeper of the Year. It was the second straight season a Blazers' keeper earned the award with
Max Rudolph getting the nod in 2023.
Wesley Bloodworth,
Igor Rudolph, and
Ciaran Colvin joined Bahena on the All-CCS First Team, while
Caleb Drake and
Courtland Williams were named to the Second Team.
Adrian Eaglin was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Blazers capped off a 10-win regular season with a four-match winning streak, including a dominant 7-1 win over LaGrange last Saturday to secure the No. 2 seed.
Asbury finished their first season in the CCS with a conference record of 4-2-0. The Eagles bring a 10-4-3 record into Saturday after dismantling No. 6 Piedmont, 5-1, in the CCS Quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Dalton Fleshood and Yousef Ismail were named to the All-CCS First Team, while Salat Kipterit garnered Second Team honors. Fleshood served as Asbury's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Nick Eller and Kipterit pace the Eagles with eight goals apiece. Goalkeeper Peyton French has allowed just three goals in eight starts in goal while racking up 33 saves.
Saturday's victor will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Covenant and 4th-seeded Maryville, who are set to play in the other Semifinal on Saturday.
