ROCHESTER, Minn. -
Brett Sanchez of the Belhaven Baseball team continues to garner recognition for his performance in the Northwoods Summer Collegiate League as he was named the League's Pitcher of the Year on Friday. The league features players from all levels of collegiate baseball and is home to 23 teams making it one of the largest leagues of its kind in the country.
Sanchez, who was named the D3Baseball.com Pitcher of the Year following the 2023 season, is 6-2 across 10 appearances for the Green Bay Rockers with a 3.23 ERA. Sanchez has racked up a league-leading 73 strikeouts across 61.1 innings pitched while leading the league with a 0.99 WHIP and sitting second among qualifiers in opponent batting average with a .223 mark.
The right-hander was named as a member of the Great Lakes West All-Star Team after a stellar first half of the season with the Green Bay Rockers and struck out two hitters across 2/3 of an inning in the All-Star Game.
The Green Bay Rockers topped the Great Lakes West sub-division in the first half of the year earning them a spot in the Sub-Divisional Series which is the first round of the Northwoods League playoffs that start this weekend.
Sanchez currently sits as Belhaven's all-time strikeouts, complete games and shutouts leader while also being the program's joint-all-time wins leader.
