ROCHESTER, NY - Ashaunti Barnes of the Belhaven Women's Track & Field team represented the Blazers at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday competing in the 400 Meters.

Barnes, a Jackson native, earned qualification in the 400 Meters after posting one of the Top 22 times in the nation during the outdoor season. Barnes' qualifying time was 56.39 seconds which was the 15th best time in the nation and won her the event championship for the Collegiate Conference of the South.

At the meet, Barnes ran a 58.75 in Heat 1 and finished 7th among runners in her Heat. Overall, Barnes' time placed her 21st as she got her first opportunity to compete for a National Championship as a member of the Belhaven Track & Field program.

With Barnes competing at the NCAA Outdoor Division III Track & Field Championships, Belhaven has now had a National Qualifier in each of their first three seasons of NCAA postseason eligibility. Barnes joins Benjamin Adams (Men's Javelin in 2022) and Kelton Kemp (Men's 110 Meter Hurdles and 200 Meters) as the student-athletes representing Belhaven on the national stage.
