ATLANTA, Ga. - After winning the CCS regular season title, the Belhaven Softball team was well-represented on the All-Conference teams as six Blazers were honored on Monday.
Allie Gordon and
Kennedy Carruth each picked up First Team selections, while
Ellie Jones,
Madi Miller, and
Natalie Parker were named to the Second Team. Outfielder
Jordan Kanipe was named to the league's All-Sportsmanship Team.
Gordon, who was also named the CCS Player of the Year, hit .472 with 16 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, and 42 RBIs to lead Belhaven to a 27-11 record. She has rewritten the record books this season after becoming the program's leader in home runs (35) and RBIs (166).
Carruth, the league's Pitcher of the Year, was dominant in the circle this season. She went 15-4 with 15 complete games while striking out a CCS-leading 168 batters and posting a 0.93 ERA in 127.2 innings. Carruth earns her second conference Pitcher of the Year accolade after being named the ASC's top pitcher a season ago.
Jones hit .313 with four doubles, seven home runs, and 29 RBIs in 2023 for the Blazers. The first baseman was a mainstay in the middle of a potent lineup as she started in all 38 games. In addition to her solid bat, Jones flashed her skill with the glove by committing no errors in 203 chances.
Miller made an immediate impact in her first season at Belhaven. The Blazers' centerfielder hit .357 with 45 hits while leading the team with four triples and 19 stolen bases. Miller recorded 15 multi-hit games to pace the Blazers at the top of the order.
Parker was named the All-CCS Second Team as a pitcher after splitting time between the circle and the outfield. In 27.1 innings, she allowed just 16 hits and posted a 1.02 ERA while striking out 23. Parker also held opponents to a measly .174 batting average.
Kanipe started 28 games in right field for the Blazers. She was outstanding defensively, fielding at a perfect clip in 34 chances this season.
The Blazers' quest for a CCS title rolls on as Belhaven is set to host Maryville this weekend for a best-of-three series at Jim McLeod Field.
