ATLANTA, Ga. - After a strong weekend in the circle, Belhaven junior
Karley Rouse has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It is the first Pitcher of the Week honor of her career.
Rouse led Belhaven to a doubleheader sweep of No. 8 Huntingdon, a rematch of last season's CCS Tournament Championship Game. She picked up wins in both appearances, working seven innings while allowing just one run on three hits. She struck out three and held opponents to a .130 batting average, finishing the week with a 1.00 ERA.
Rouse has been especially sharp as of late. Over her last six starts, she is 5-0 with a 0.78 ERA, consistently working through traffic and keeping opponents from putting together big innings. That poise has shown up in key moments, including multiple jams worked out of with runners in scoring position.
On the season, Rouse is 7-3 with a 2.40 ERA across 73.0 innings and has been a steady presence in the rotation. She is part of a Belhaven pitching staff that owns a 2.58 team ERA and has held opponents to a .263 batting average.
Rouse and the Blazers travel to Millsaps on Wednesday for the second game of the Riverside Rivalry.
