JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University Softball team moved up 10 spots to number 8 in the latest NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll announced on Tuesday.
The Blazers opened the season against #4 East Texas Baptist University and won the three game series against the Tigers. Belhaven then played a midweek contest with cross-town rival Millsaps College and shut them out by a final score of 5-0. In the following weekend, the Concordia Texas University Tornados came to Jackson and the Blazers swept CTX to have some momentum going into the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga.
The Green and Gold went down to the NFCA Leadoff Classic and took care of business going 6-0 in the Classic. The Blazers earned a 4-1 victory over #1 DePauw, a 1-0 win over #16 Trine University, a 12-7 victory over #17 Berry College, a 11-2 win over MIT, a 8-2 victory over #15 St. John Fisher, and closed out the week with a 4-2 win over Illinois Wesleyan University. Belhaven Softball is currently on an 11-game winning streak.

The Blazers have an overall record of 12-1 and a conference record of 5-1. Belhaven Softball will return to action on Monday, March 14 with a doubleheader against Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas.
